In summer 2021, we designed our ticketed events to be COVID safe, including ample space for all guests in the open air with delicious food and beverages. Our summer 2021 ticketed events included our Full Moon Concert series and Timbalooloo music classes for children.

On July 24th, we celebrated the Buck Full Moon with clarinetist, bass-clarinetist and saxophonist Oran Etkin and his Open Arms Project. Etkin's concert was magic uninterrupted. The audience was entranced by his meliflous sounds and stories of his musical collaborations from around the world.

To honor the Strawberry Full Moon on June 26, 2021, American Patchwork Quartet (APQ) took to the Mama Farm stage to share their incredible hybrid of traditional American folk song with Jaipur classical singing from India. Grammy-nominated vocalist Falu Shah, Grammy-winning guitarist/vocalist Clay Ross, 3x Grammy-winning drummer Clarence Penn, and acclaimed bassist Yasushi Nakamura showcase the dynamic diversity of contemporary culture by reimagining timeless songs from America’s past.

In summer 2021, giggle x Mama Farm collaborated on an exclusive collection of children's pajamas and apparel with a mission to bring the concept of regenerative farming and biodiversity to a wider community of families and celebrate fun on the farm. The clothing featured drawings from Mama Farm's founder, Isabella Rossellini. The giggle x Mama Farm collection was available for purchase at our Timbalooloo events in the form of a pop-up store (pictured here), our CSA stand and online.

On August 21, 2021, for the Sturgeon Full Moon, Magos Herrera closed the Full Moon Concert series with her incredible voice and a musical influence spanning from Mexico to Brazil and beyond. Magos has been praised as having an ability to get “under the skin of a song, recalling great communicators like Edith Piaf or Billie Holiday.” (NPR)

On May 29th, 2021, we welcomed the Flower Full Moon with the spellbinding sounds of the harp as two masters from diverse traditions came together for the first time in concert. Bridget Kibbey has been hailed as “Yo Yo Ma of the harp” by Vogue. Kora player Yacouba Sissoko comes from 21 generations of Griot musicians/storytellers in Mali and has worked with Paul Simon, Harry Belafonte and Lauryn Hill among others. Our 2021 season was purposefully kept small to allow guests to relax in the open air without worry of COVID. Our goal was to help our guests relax deeply and reconnect with their community and music in a way that was safe and fun.

Full Moon Concerts
In celebration of the summer’s full moons, we have created our Full Moon Concert series which highlights musical talents from around the world. While each concert will be radically different in sound and experience, the goal of the Full Moon Concert Series is to celebrate the power of music in uniting humanity, bridging divides and touching the hearts of all. Our hope is that – individually and as a collective – the concerts act as an antidote to this time of separation we’ve all endured in a way that feels safe, comfortable and transportive. Past Moon Concert performers have included celebrated and Grammy award winning artists like Yacouba Sissoko, Bridget Kibbey, Magos Herrera, Oran Etkin and American Patchwork Quartet.
Mama Farm’s Full Moon Concerts welcome all ages and offers a pop up restaurant from Chef Francis Derby (Prime, Momofuku Ssäm Bar, WD-50), drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic options available) and onsite astrological readings. We encourage you to bring your own blankets and camping back chairs to enjoy the musical performance and evening. Some chairs and tables will be made available, but are first come, first serve.
Timbalooloo Music Classes Series
Mama Farm has teamed up with celebrated jazz musician Oran Etkin to create our Timbalooloo Sunday Music class series. Join us for engaging musical education, a delicious, seasonal breakfast by Chef Conor Swanson (Bird & Bao, Momofuku), a farm scavenger hunt and more.
Timbalooloo is an internationally renowned musical program that strives to fundamentally reimagine the way music is taught to children. Through fun games, stories, songs and movements, children engage with rich musical and cultural heritage – from Tito Puente to Mozart, Willie Nelson to Herbie Hancock.
Founder and teacher Oran Etkin is widely regarded as one of the top clarinetists and composers of his generation. He regularly performs at major jazz festivals internationally and has recorded on numerous albums, including a Grammy Award winning compilation.
