Sustainability & Health Commitment

Mama Farm is a 5-acre regenerative farm in Brookhaven, New York, surrounded by conserved woodland, protected by a conservation easement in partnership with the Peconic Land Trust. Mama Farm focuses on the cultivation of heritage breeds and heirloom seeds. Our mission is to promote conservation and biodiversity through our offerings and programming. We endeavor to preserve and celebrate the heritage of our local environment and Mother Nature herself – the Mama on whom we all depend.

The farm was originally created to conserve and steward land responsibly through regenerative agricultural practices. We offer our community nourishing foods – eggs, honey, vegetables – straight from our fields. In addition to the foods we grow and cultivate, we also plant countless wildflowers and pollinator gardens to support the essential work and contributions of butterflies, bees and other pollinators. Our land is cultivated utilizing regenerative techniques which includes frequent soil testing and amendments with nature based, non-toxic amendments such as rock dusts, compost tea, fish oils, clays and more. We also create and extensively use our own compost, which is supplemented with wood chips from dead trees to increase the soil’s mycelial properties.  The crops grown on our land are cultivated by Farmer Patty Gentry. We do not use any kind of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or environmentally harmful fertilizers anywhere on our farm. Additionally, none of our animals are slaughtered, but we do use their products, such as eggs and honey, in our CSA shares.

Mama Farm aims to foster the next generation of environmental stewards. We do this through education and preservation of biodiversity which comes to life through our member CSA (community supported agriculture), and one-of-a-kind programming such as avant-garde films, theater, workshops and children’s camp in partnership with CEED activities.

“You can feel the passion about food & the natural world”

“We stayed at Mama Farm overnight for a trivia event, and it was a lovely, relaxing place to be with my husband and toddler. It was fun taking my two-year-old to see the chickens, sheep, and goats. The B&B itself is cozy and chic, with good linens and mattresses for a great sleep. Elettra went above and beyond to help out with getting a babysitter locally so two very tired parents could enjoy trivia, which was particularly lovely. You can feel the passion about food & the natural world and I loved spending time there, and especially partaking in the hard-boiled eggs from the chickens!”

-Elisabeth Donnelly

“A perfect setting for a marvelous holistic healing experience”.

“I participated in the Inner Fire Retreat at Mama Farm. It was a perfect setting for a marvelous holistic healing experience. The B&B is beautiful and the farm provides a tranquil setting for reflection and relaxation”.

-Jessica Ursino

“The setting is indeed spectacular”

“Our family rented the B&B and cottage for a local family wedding mid July 2022 and the setting is indeed spectacular. We held a buffet dinner in the gorgeous B&B kitchen and the guests dined outdoors on the splendid patio. My 91-year-old mother especially enjoyed the roaming goats! And BTW--The first floor guest room with attached bathroom is especially good for an elderly person”.

-Jessie Hartland

“Exceptional service and unique atmosphere”.

“Magical Mama Farm adventures await! We love Mama Farm events: always surprising and yet cozy enough to feel at home. Bespoke experiences abound and the secret sauce is in the exceptional service and unique atmosphere”.
